helping you plan ahead
This leaflet tells you about the main charges on accounts for personal customers from our UK mainland branches.
It will help you work out the cost of running your account with us. However most of our personal customers pay no charges at all.
If you want to use a service that we have'nt listed, we'll tell you the cost of that service before you give us the go-ahead. you may find it helpful to keep this leaflet with your bank statements for future reference.
Currently most banking services are exempt from VAT. If this should change, we reserve the right to add VAT to our charges.

charges on your current account
Charges are assessed monthly and the period for which we charge:
* starts on the day after the first working day of every month
* ends on the first working day of every month.
If any current account transaction charges are due, we work them out each month and show them in advance on the next statement we send you - then deduct them at least 14 days after the date of the statement.
If you are due to pay charges and your next statement is not due within a month of the of the charging period, we will send you an extra statement free of charge.

if you go overdrawn without agreeing this with us
If you decide you need an overdraft or think you might go overdrawn, please contact your branch.
Its cheaper for you to arrange an overdraft in advance, rather than going overdrawn without agreeing it first. Applying to set up an overdaft costs you nothing.
If you go overdrawn, or go above an agreed limit without arranging a higher amount first, we charge a higher rate of interest for this unauthorised borrowing. We display this rate at our branches.
Any unauthorised borrowing means extra work for us, we cover this by charging you the following fees.
Unauthorised borrowing fee...................... ....................£5 We charge this when you go overdrawn by £10 or more above an agreed limit or by £10 or more without an agreed limit. The fee is then charged on each day until you arrange a higher overdraft limit with us or you are back within your agreed limit or in credit.
If you go overdrawn without agreement, we may return your cheques unpaid, or be unable to pay a standing order or direct debit. We make this charge each time this happens.
These will be charged to your account monthly. We will write to you every time we are unable to pay an item, or on the first occasion you go overdrawn without agreement by £10 or more.

We'll be happy to respond when you ask us for help with managing your day to day banking - at no charge. But if we have to spend a significant amount of time on a specific area, then like professional advisors, we may charge a fee. If this seems likely, we will agree it with you before you are committed.
Well thats that! Hope this is of help to you all.
