Default How long between small claim submission and court date?

Hi all

Am preparing to put a claim in through Edinburgh's small claims court.

Does anyone know how long the usual period is between submitting your claim and the date of the hearing, and whether you will be informed of the court date immediately when submitting the claim?

Enquiring minds want to know, as I have a planned foreign holiday coming up

It really depends how busy the court is, I phoned around a few courts near me to see which was the quickest which was at Kilmarnock and is 6-8 weeks!

6-8 weeks at Greenock -if you don't want a hearing in between specific dates tell the sherrif clerks -most seem happy to oblige.

Very helpful - thank you both

This will mean speeding up my claim submissions, no longer having to worry whether the hearing dates would be during my holiday.

Thanks again, and good luck to both of you.

Hi mcarreno

Yes. I will be going to Edinburgh Sheriff Court very soon - probably Monday week.

Good luck on Monday with all the paper work. Would be great if you could let me know how you are getting on.

Feel free to PM if you want to exchange experiences etc.
