Angry argos and a cookworks toaster

Hi i purchased a cookworks toaster from Argos about 8 weeks ago now (i do not think i have the receipt). I can't even remember if i paid cash or used my card as i was so busy moving into my new flat.It was only a cheap one.

However yesterday the toaster blow up on my partner, it flamed and sparked.

Was quite worrying as could of easily created a fire.

What should i do? Contact Argos or complained to cookworks direct.

Well, cant find any product recall for this, though one person seems to have spotted something here Cookworks Signature Stainless Steel Professional Fryer. - Review - Argos Cookworks Signature Stainless Steel Fryer

In the absence of it being caused by anything else, and providing there is no explicit instruction in the manual / box etc regarding potential risks, then I would report it to Trading Standards and the manufacturer.

Cookworks is an Argos own brand, if you contact them or take it into a store they will produce a Haznot (Hazard Notification) form, the product will then be tested etc. If its caused any injury it the injury should be looked at by a doctor, if it has caused any damage to property take some photos.

Just to add to blitz(although sure this will be resolved now):

- You may need to ask for the haznot explicitly, and/or ask for the manager - certainly when I used to work for Argos, you needed manager authorisation to complete these things
- Sorry to contradict blitz but cookworks isnt Argos own brand - or at the very least, they are not sold exclusively in Argos. Woolworths for example sell them.
