Join Date: Jun 2007 Posts: 4	Help - advice needed Hello forum, I have been reading your posts with great interest since I've found myself recently in a very sticky situation. I rent privately and have been in the property since 8th January, 2007. A basic tenancy agreement was set up between myself and my landlady giving one months notice. We had a verbal agreement that the tenancy would be long term (as I hate moving and really wanted to settle). However, on 10th June, my landlady visited the house and handed me a letter saying she wanted me out by 7th July (the letter she gave me was dated 7th June!!!) as she needs the house to live in heself now due to a change of her personal circumstances. There is no way that I can find another place to live in 3 weeks. From what I can gather (and please correct me if I'm wrong) there is a minimum of 6 months required before she can serve me with notice and then the notice has to be a minimum of two months. I telephoned her to say that it was impossible for me to be out so quickly and that I needed a bit more time. She was very abrubt and rude and said that I had to be out of the property as the builders were in on 8th July. This brings me to another point - my neigbours have mentioned to me that they have seen her hanging around the house when I'm at work (maybe to measure up for the builders me thinks!!!) Although, there is no proof that she has been inside the house, she has definately been around the back and probably in the back garden. I feel extremely vulnerable and stressed regarding this and am at my wits ends as to what to do. If anybody can advise me I would be very grateful.
