plumber accessing our flat without our permission......

Im so angry, today we waited in for 3 hours during which time the landlord said a plumber would be coming out to fix our new oven in, which we have waited 10 days for, I made it clear we could only wait until a certain time because its my partners bday and we obviously dont want to be in all day waiting for a plumber, anyway, we waited in for 45 minutes after he was meant to turn up, no sign of him coming so we went out. We have just come back home now to find the plumber has somehow let himself in, Im guessing he has keys, fitted the oven, dumped the oven in the back alley and left. Noone asked our permission and to be honest I feel so violated right now, this has happened once before with the painters also...how many of these workers has got our keys??? worrying!
So, Im not too sure how to handle this, right now Im so annoyed, but if anyone could advise me on how to go about this, Im pretty sure this is against the tenancy agreement and against the law!Thanks

Technically, it is in breach of your "right to quiet enjoyment" of the property, and is trespass. Practically, it is a "light" breach, and the courts etc are unlikely to run with it. I would simply contact the landlord in a polite manner and say that you are uncomfortable with any workmen or indeed the landlord letting themselves in without you being present, and ask for it not to be done.
