Just looking at the problems experienced by people in the privately rented sector.
I know we are protected by the law on a shorthold tenancy but since ive been renting ( some ten years ) every landlord whether represented by an agent or not has been a problem.i.e , never doing essential repairs, entering the premises on a daily basis whilst at work ( quote: ''I own the property'') being convicted of fraud and sent to prison

are just some of the jokers I've come across.
To gain a tennancy Im asked to provide character references, copies of bank statements, payslips and more at a landlords whim. Should we not have an agency that represents our interests and ensure we are renting from decent people especialy when our family are involved.
Are you fed up moving on when the property is sold on after 12 - 18 months? Could we not have the security of short leases, say 3 -5 years ?
Just me thinking aloud, though would be interested in others thoughts
