| | Basic Account Customer | Can my ex landlady do this? long story short, my ex landlady put her water bills in my name. she gave me a contract to sign at the beginning, but i never signed it, as I thought it was badly written (says to pay all bills typed, but scribbled on it was that all bills were inclusive)
so I was charged for 6 months worth of water for the pub I lived above, even tho I was only renting the flat, and it was supposed to be inclusive.
I went to the CAB about it, but they said I still had to pay the water bills, which i did, coz I couldn't see any other way of sorting it.
Is there anything i could've done about it? I tried to explain the situation to the water bill people, but they were very much, we just want our money and don't care where it comes from.
cheers in advance |

| | Basic Account Customer | Re: Can my ex landlady do this? the problem was that it said both, it looked like I'd scribbled it was inclusive, and so wouldn't of counted. She did sign it, but in the time i was living there. She got married and so I don't know what her last name is now.
I got sent this bill about 2 months after i moved out, and I have no idea how she got my new address either. I'm furious that to change a name on a water bill you don't even need a signiture! Maybe we should all change our water bills to Mr. T. Blair!

| | Basic Account Customer | Re: Can my ex landlady do this? The only problem is I would take her to court, if I knew what her name was lol. I know that sounds stupid, but i honestly don't know her full name. this all happened last year, and i moved across the country, and as much as I could follow her up, she wouldn't co-operate. i didn't even get my deposit back either.
she's a bit evil, she had a centre wall taken out of the pub and my flat, while I was living there, all my items got covered in dust and rubble, and she didn't care.
grr
Thanks for the info Simon x |
