Hello people,
This is my first post on this website so
"HOWDY DO"!!!
I wondered if any of you knew anything about council houses/housing law.
My problems have been ongoing since I moved in (feb 2000). I have a two bed property, originally for my daughter and I. There is no adequate heating in here ( electric storage heating with no thermostat which when turned on doesn't even take the frost out of the air let alone heat the house). And I have had to buy convector heaters for each room which is obviously expensive to run (£500 quarterly leccy bill during winter months :o ).
To cut a long story short, my daughter now has mild asthma (persistent cough which only reponds to inhalers), which I believe is a result of sleeping in a cold bedroom with mould occupying the walls for 7 yrs. She has had chest infections, temporary hearing losses, colds etc every year since we moved in. When I complained to the council and asked to be moved, they replied that these illnesses are only mild everyday complaints that can be controlled with medication and are no grounds to be moved. I need some advice guys. I dont want to settle for this response and I cant afford to pay these electricity bills. I am in arrears with payments as it is...
Can anyone share their knowledge/experiences etc?
thanks
