new to this- tenancy agreement

I have been informed by the letting agent that me and my partner need to pay them 100 pounds administration fee for the renewal of the agreement. I spoke to the landlord as we deal directly with him and he told me not to pay it.
He wants to stop dealing with this agency but worries that they will sue him.
Have there been any cases that an agency sues a landlord for not using their services ??

I would imagine it would only happen if he is somehow in breach of contract with them. Without further detail it would be impossible to speculate whether they would have a case against him or not.

As far as i'm aware a landlord can withdraw his account with a letting agentat any time as long as he doesnt owe them any money.
Just write to the agent telling him you want the tenancy to roll over to a statutory periodic tenancy and that you will not be paying them a fee for it.

This will be similar for the landlord as to what temp agencies do, there will be a clause stating that if the landlord rents the property to the same people as the agency has shown round/previously let then the landlord will become liable for the fees that would have been paid. Temp agencies do it to stop people working at a company for a week or two then the company poaching the worker for a better price - same here to stop the landlord wriggling out of the costs.

ok, will get them to send me a copy of the agreement and check what it says as I think they said on the phone something about a six month clause which wasnt in the previous aggreement.
And then will write to them and tell them that I will not be paying extra administration fees. We already paid 200 pounds last year as admn fees.

I think we forget that just because they written down an agreement it doesnt mean we have to agree to it. And if the landlord is on our side the its time to ruffle some feathers,
