Default My sofa stuck in previous rented flat due to landlord changing door!

Hi all,

I need some assistance with a problem I'm having, I'll try to keep this brief.

We moved out of our rented flat in December, however the landlord changed all the windows/doors earlier in the year (he had uPVC double glazing fitted to replace the old wooden framed double glazing that had rotted and failed). The problem is, that the landlord chose to have frames fitted that were much smaller than the previous wooden frames, without advising us of this.

As you can guess from the title of this thread, I hired a van only to discover our leather suite is now stuck inside the flat, there is no physical way we can remove it from the property. The only way to get it out would be to either remove the entire front door frame, or remove the master bedroom window pane (questionable, don't know if the sofa would get through to the master bedroom) and take it through the back garden/over the back fence.

I've hand delivered them a letter advising them of this, and requesting that they have the suite removed and delivered to our new address. Unfortunately, due to being thieving gypos they have completely ignored my request.

How can I go about getting my suite back? They've been terrible letting agents/landlords, failing to properly repair things in the flat (one of which caused a black eye), allowing themselves into the property without contacting us beforehand to let us know of this - while my fiance was in bed hiding under the covers from what she thought were burglers who were going to attack her, amongst other issues.

Thanks for any help!

If the window panel is large enough for the settee to get through, you should be able to pay a glazing company to take it out, and then put back in again.
Last year, the only way we could deliver a bed to a customer, was to drag it up through the front bedroom window, once the dbl. glazed unit was out!!!! Oldest son delivers for a well known suite company, and their customers frequently have to do this.
