Council tax Unsure about amount...need help

My girlfriend was on the dole last year,but got a christmas temp job from 08/11/06 to 02/01/07... Her council tax has just come in and it says she has to pay £122.50 in two installments of £61.25 on the 27th january and 27th febuary.

Just wondered if this seems a correct amount, she lives in a flat in Rotherham, it says on the letter the propety is in Band A.

Any help would be appreciated, as she as no money at moment due to claiming sick aftera small crash.

I can't talk for Rotherham but I know in Chesterfield a Band A property would work out about £750-800 a year so that per month would be £62.50-66.66 so roughly two months would be around about £120 so I would say its correct.

One thing, if she lives alone, ie sole ocupant they she should be able to claim a 25% discount.

It seems because she is about to put in a council tax and housing benefit claim they are wanting her to pay the months she is going to claim for.

Did'nt realise how expensive council tax is. Once you take £61 then rent at £24, out of £120, she only has £40 for bills and food.
