Default Moving out....(trying)

My girlfreind and I are moving out of our shared flat (3) into our own new flat.
I have been living at the address for 2.5 years where as she has only been in since dec 05.
We have our months notice to our landlord, and are all set to move out May 10th.
When i spoke wioth my landlord to confirm our notice, he was sad to see us go but said he understood we needed a place of our own.

Now, two weeks later, my landllord is saying to me that we have not completed the 6months as stated in the new tenancy!! he is isaying that the rent for the flat is £1050 and is the respobsiblity of all three of us. If one person doesnt pay or moves out it then becopme the sole respsonsiiblty of the remaining tenants.

Firstly, I have signed or even seen a new tenancy, secondly, my tenancy has just been rolling month on month....
Basically he is saying that because my partner moved into the flat in Dec a new tenancy had to drawn up...this meant we all effectively started another 6month period!

I have just spent a sh*t load of mony on the new house and have budgeted to be out of the ol dhouse my may 10th with all the outstanding bills piad up to date.

Can anyone tell me if i have a leg to stand on here or if we both have to pay my old landlord and 2months rent?

Many thanks

Did you sign this tenancy? If not then I don't think he has a leg to stand on. Does your local council have a welfare rights dept? Or maybe you could speak to the CAB and ask them to contact LL on your behalf.

If neither of you saw the tennancy or signed anything then he cannot tie you to the rent!

You gave your dues and now want to leave, Landlords can be so difficult!

I would put it down in a letter to him! Ak him for a copy of the tennancy too! I bet he wont provide it 9as he knows he is wrong)

Its not an tennancy "AGREEMENT" if you dont agree!

Good Luck!
