Default NOT Name & Shame - xxxxx & xxxx, E Yorks

Has anybody else had dealings with [edited: these are libellous comments]

I rented a house through them and was totally ripped off, even though I was there less than a year.

I was told before I moved in that the landlord was going to fit new carpets as the old ones were stained and falling apart. This never happened and I was charged for cleaning the carpets that I would have cleaned myself if I'd known they were going to stay down for the next tennant.

Another nasty trick they played on me was telling me I had to move out, then telling me I could stay and then, after I had written to them telling them the date I was leaving, I was taken to court to get an eviction notice. The court totally ignored my defence and I ended up paying £150 for an eviction order against me for after I was already moving out!

The final nasty trick was telling me they needed to do an inventory of the property as they hadn't managed to do this before I moved in and the next thing I knew, pieces of my furniture and my curtains were listed on their website as part of the fixtures and fittings for the house, which was up for rent again.

Just letting you know that renting through them is an expensive business, I lost most of my deposit to them because of their nasty tricks.

Names removed. What you posted here is potentially libellous, and can not be allowed to remain.

Furthermore, we don't really do name & shame in here. We prefer to fight back and get our own back in legal ways.

In respect of landlords (or "scumlords") isn't it preferable to name and shame - it prevents others on the forum making the same mistake.

No. We only have OP's version of events. He could have his own agenda, run a separate agency himself, have any reason to say all this, or even make it up as he went along because he was drunk/mentally unstable (I'm not saying he is, I'm only using this as an example!!! ), be the agency's owner scorned boy/girlfriend, who knows?
