Do we have to give 2 months notice

Hope that someone can help
Basically we have been renting the same property for the last 16 months, we have just bought our own property and have given what we believed to be the correct ammount of notice 1 month. Our managing agent has told us it is 2 months notice. When we resigned the contract bak in Feb this year e signed but were never given a copy - despite asking for one on more than one occasion. We were told that our landlord needed to sign it.
We have just obtained the orignal of this document which has not been signed by our landlord or even dated which we think makes the contract void. The estate agent claims that our landlord did not need to sign - I asked then why he signed the first contract that we held with them and why we were told in Feb that he needed to sign the contract. As far as I am concerned although we have signed not all parties have signed so we are only liable to give 1 months notice.
They are now starting to get pretty unplesent and are threatening court action - this came after I went by myself to try to have an adult discussion on Friday and had to deal with two estate agents quite frankly trying to bully me. We have also pointed out that since giving our notice two weeks go they stil have not put the property back up for rent - I am inclined to contact our landlord direct to ask if if he is aware.
Sorry for the rant but this is so frustating!

What was the fixed term on the February agreement?

When are you wanting to leave?

I can't believe it they have given in and agreed to one months notice - they contacted the landlord and he agreed that he had a responsibility to sign the contract and he said that one month was fine. So for anyone else in the same boat it really is worth trying to discuss things I really did not think that this was resolvable
