Default Dont know how to resolve...

Me and my husband are renting a property through an estate agent. We paid 6 months rent in advance because of our poor credit history. When we received the keys, our tenancy hadnt ran out on our previous house so we planned on moving within the week, giving us plenty of time to get organised.
When i actually went into our new rented property it was alot dirtier than it first looked and i ended up spending a week cleaning before we could actually move in! The estate agent told me they we going to get the oven professionally cleaned but it wasnt and now we have settled in i decided to tackle to oven about a week ago, only to realise after i spent hours cleaning it that we cant actually use it, everytime we turn the knob on the cooker, the power trips out, we have told the agent everyday for the last week and so on saturday the phoned and said our landlord was going to come and have a look as it sounded similar to a problem he had in the past.. long story short, he couldnt figure out what the problem was and after ringing the agent again today, they told me a company would be contacting me 'in due course' to arrange to come and have a look. We have lived here 3 weeks now and had no use of the oven! The sink has also been leaking since we moved in and the agent sent out their so called handy men to fix the leak in the main bowl part of the kitchern sink, after alot of messing around, they fixed the leak, but thankfully my husband gave them an end cap to use on one of the parts as they were going to fill it with silicone, which would of lasted all of about 2 weeks... I did point out at the time that the small bowl section of the sink was also leaking but they didnt agree, it was still leaking when they left, we got our dishwasher last week and after connecting it the leak is now much more severe, i have had to empty the cupboard and leave a bucket under the drainage pipe, lots more phone calls to the estate agents and they said they would deal with it, even after speaking to them today, no mention of fixing the sink and still no phone call from the company going to fix the oven!! I am totally stressed about it now and fed up with calling the agent everyday, they havent called me once, what can i do??

we had an electrician come round yesterday and he said we need a new oven, god knows how long that will take, but now we have another problem! I went into the downstairs toilet today and the floor was covered in water!! i looked up and realised it was leaking through the ceiling from the ensuite, the ceiling is all damp and water gas been coming through the light fitting.. dont know if its the shower/sink or both but phoned the agent this morning and havent heard anything since! Its unbelieveable!

Hi
It is now time to contact your local council they can use there powers to take action against the landlord action, this link is only of use to residents in Birmingham, however all LA's have similar powers Contact private rented housing services
