Question Threaten by notice 21 because I do not agree to sign their fix 1 year contract (beean ther 2 years already)

I have been in the property for 2 years (both 1 year contract). The agency wants me to now sign another one year contract (that includes in the contract 6 months breaking close and after 2 months notice). This is too restrictive for my current situation.

They told me that if I do not sign I will have to leave and they will serve me a notice 21..

-I have always paid the rent on time and have agreed to the increase.
- I am a good tenant and neighbour

Simply do not thinkthat I should be tight down to another year and that 2 months notice is too long.

What can I do??????

Nothing - they have the right to do this unfortunately. There is simply nothing you can do, you have no ultimate right to security of tenure.

This is simply bullying someone into signing and should not really be authorised.. It does not seem fair at all.

Brinkmanship pure and simple. I would palce good money that the landlord isnt aware of his agents actions. If youve been such a good rent payer, the landlord will not one to lose you and face a costly void.

Tell them your fine on a periodic, and that the balls in their court. Dont be bullied into giving notice, let them serve it on you if they are going to do it.

Obviously this runs the risk of you actually only having a further 2 months in the home.

The other option is negoiating a six month contract.
