Default Possession Order, Landlord Harassment!

I received a phone call from a friend today from court. His landlord sent three individuals around to the premises to which he is a tenant. Im not entirely sure of the exact agreement, but I would suggest an Assured shorthold tenancy agreement. The individuals threatened him to leave now or they would, in their own words 'throw him out.' He has been out of the country for 3 weeks. The individuals were sent without notice and turned up on the doorstep.

The Landlord has already slipped up in my view as He went to the court for a possession order the same day he sent the people around, expecting the order to be immediate. The court said that the tenant had 28 days to stay in the premises and after that a bail would be issued on the premises.

The tenant has missed previous payments and so this may constitute the landlord having the right to apply for a possession order, however is the way in which he went about it harassment? would the missing payments cancel out the legal entitlement to be on those premises? how could the order by cancelled?

Any help would be apprectiated.

Default Re: Possession Order, Landlord Harassment!

It sounds very much like harassment. Your friend should contact his local authority without delay to complain.
