Default Please Help !!!!

Please help, I have applied to rent a property through an agent, they have used lets xl to credit check me, the agents has told me today that XL have turned me down due to an unsatified CCJ. I did my own credit check before i applied for this house and there was one ccj which was satisfied in 2005, on the application form it asked if i was aware of any ccj's, i put no as i presumed as this ccj was satisfied there would be no problem. I have a guarantor for the property anyway as i would be on housing benefit and a guarantor was a condition of the rent.
The agents are telling me that it is classed as telling a lie and xl will not change their mind and any other property i go for who use xl i would be turned down because of the current application.
I cant understand why my credit would be bad, i got a credit score of over 850 and have just received a mint credit card (thought i would apply for one just to be sure my credit was ok).
I am gutted and have been told by the agent i cannot even appeal as the house will now be offered to anyone else who wants it. any advice would be much appreciated.

What you need to do is to go to Trading Standards and complain about XL, clearly they are mis-interpreting the credit scoring process and need to have more trained staff to deal with this problem.

XL cannot be the only credit scoring company the agents use, they are just after money for this and don't have to give you back any deposit on this - which is wrong. It doesn't cost £200 for a credit check at all, it's blatant profiteering....

Where has this £200 come from? I can't see any mention of £200.
I can't see that they are after money either as 6 months advance has been offered.

They can rent to whomever they wish and refuse whomever they wish, you can't demand they rent a property to you.

I don't see what Trading Standards has to do with it either, even with a perfect credit score they can pick their tenent.

I first filled in the initial application form for the property, and the agents spoke to the landlord and he was happy to rent the property to me subject to the credit check. The credit check has come back as grade C which is apparently not good, when i queried this with the agent they said there is an active CCJ on there, I explained that this was satisfied in 2005 and when I checked my credit score it is high at over 850 and I have even applied for and got a low interest credit card. I am going to speak with the credit agent directly tomorrow to see if I can resolve the matter.
