Help Please Letting Agent

Please can anybody help!!. I had a letting agent who collected my rents for me. I decided to collect my rents myself and gave them six weeks notice (1 month only required in contract) everything was fine I recieved an email in feb 2007 stating that everything was ok and monies would be ready to collect on that date. Cut a long story short I didnt received the monies they would not tell me why just said termination fees!!!! even though I had evidence that they said they was going to pay. Anyway I took them to court and won all rents plus cost, great I thought no , it turns out that when I took them to court I put the company name with management on the end as I thought this is what they are called and even the local council calls them that!!!. I have now learned that two companies are registered at the same address the one with management at the end is dissolved 2006. But all my bussiness was with the active company its the same name but they have just dropped management at the end. The courts state that I cannot enforce because of the this, as they can prove that it doesnt exist anymore even though all my paperwork that was put into court relates to the new company. The courts told me i have to apply for an N244 and ask for transfer of name. does this mean I have to start my case all over again can i do this as the lady at the courts didnt really now what I could do.

I feel you should be able to do this, go to the courts website and read around, when I sued a creditor, they asked the court to dismiss it because I used the wrong name, same story, they kept changing the name on their letterhead and such nonsense, I just applied to the court to change my claim to the name they are known by, it might help if you put the correct and current name and a sentence saying 'formerly know as xxxx' , generally the courts are not allowed to give advice as they are not legally trained.

Thanks for your quick response, You have help me loads , sounds like you were in the same boat. Got my N244 form this morning so thanks for the formally known as bit didnt think of that. See if they can get out of this now
