Default giving notice question

if my rent runs from the 30th of each month and i want to give 28 days notice, i don't need to wait till the end of the month ie 30th to do it surely?

i just make the next rent payment due on the 30th of this month to cover me until the 14th feb ie two weeks pay to cover 28 days notice from monday?


plus also any tips on what to watch out for when we're moving out just want to make sure that they can't take loads off our deposit.

-we'll make sure its spotless and everything in order
-do meter reading checks
-cut phone off
-cut sky off
etc etc etc

Does it say in your tenancy you give 28 days notice? Usually it would be 1 months notice.

says one months notice but the letting agent is saying that it's one month from the next rent pay day rather than one month from now. so in effect i'd be paying for an extra two weeks rent so i'm gonna be paying rent on old place and on new place for two overlapping weeks so it'll cost me 500 squid more.

to me one months notice is from now so i should just give them two weeks rent at the end of this month which will cover me for roughly a month from now

No. The letting agent is right. You need to give at least one FULL rental period notice, to expire at the end of a rental period.
