| | Platinum Account Customer | Nuisance neighbours from hell I live in a semi detached council house and three months ago someone moved into the property next door (also council).
The guy who moved in is an absolute nuisance. He has his mates coming round every day and they are always either on drugs, arguing about some crime they want to committ or playing music so loud that I can hear the lyrics very clearly. This is virtually every day.
What can I do about this? I am aware of procedures, such as trying to be nice to them and asking for them to turn music down, then escalating it. But this guy and his mates are bloody animals (sorry for insulting animals). When his mates come round all I can hear is effin this and effin that, usually about drugs, havin it off with someone else's girlfriend or other talk that would put a drunken trooper to shame.
If I report this, it will be obvious it has come from me, and to be honest I just know that I can expect my windows to beput through or worse. I can't afford to move out, nor will be able to for a couple of years at least - I couldn't even afford moving costs.
Anyone have any suggestions or is it just take the risk of reporting it and hope I don't end up in hospital or just putting up?

| | Classic Account Customer | Re: Nuisance neighbours from hell I totally sympathise with you as I also have unsavoury Neighbours and am currently going through the Court process with them. I have been intimidated, threatened, had property damaged but will continue to go through the Court process, only becaues of the valuable advice and support I have received from everyone from this forum.
You have probably tried to do most of this, so sorry if I am suggesting something you have already tried.
Speak to them and introduce yourself, mention politely that the noise is creating a disturbance to you.
If this doesn't help I would suggest contacting the Council Environmental Team
Keep a log of everything - don't worry about how minor it may seem, keep a note of dates, times etc.
If your Neighbours become threatening inform the Police.
Speak to any of your other Neighbours, ask if they have had any disturbance from them? Swearing/fighting in the street, anything someone can be a Witness to?
The members on here have been fantatsic with their advice for my Particular situation, so I am sure someone will be along soon to offer more constructive advice!
Good luck xx

| | Basic Account Customer | Re: Nuisance neighbours from hell Best of luck, I am in a similar situation brought about by this Local Council of ours "The Capital of Culture 2008 (Liverpool). They in their wisdom decided to clear the streets of Liverpool Town Centre of all the homeless people with drink and drug problems,in other words anyone they consider unsuitable of presenting a glamourous image of Liverpool to all the visitors they are expecting in 2008, dumping them in residential areas, in what are classed as HMO's (all funded by grants and incapacity benefits etc).I have 2 of these properties next to mine full of (well, we don't actually know what they are, and how many there are). I tried to compile a photographic record of the comings and goings but ended up having the Police calling accusing me of "harrasement".I have tried evrything that you will be advised to do,I have got involved with Local Councillors via a residents Association, wrote to my M.P. Complained to the Head of the Council all to no avail,I have finally put an official complaint into the Local Government Ombudsman, but am not expecting much joy from that.Reason being it would open up too big a can of worms, due to this all being funded by Government money and benefits, yet they are suppose to be cutting back on this ,but these people who are suffering from "self inflicted" illnesses that no amount of help will solve their problems, the only solution would be for they themselves to clean up their act,but they will escape at other more deserving people losing out. I am now considering writing to the National Press in the hope that someone has the "balls" to investigate this fully and show it for what it is,A BIG CON and to qoute one local councillors words "it is just a licence to print money by unscrupulous landlords".They are taking a fortune in Taxpayers ,Council taxpayers and Government money in grants and benefits for little or no work just providing them with a television in every room central heating 24hrs a day etc, but though in the words of this landlord she is supposedly taking them off the streets and providing "learning" into how to lead a normal life, though they are turfed out at 9.00am each morning to congregate around the "drug drop off " points or are just walking up and down the road.Incidently what is far more disturbing is that one of them is a suspected sex offender that was moved in under the hours of darkness.I may add finally that all these residents were moved from another property further up the road that had numerous visits from the Police, fire Brigade and ambulance services nearly every day and night.Welcome to the real world ,hope you have more success than I have had so far, then again you may be lucky not being in this City you may get someone to listen and DO something |
