I live with my fiancee in a privately rented garden flat.
This month it was decided by the landlords that the old place needed complete rewiring. The work took from Wednesday to a week on Friday 8 days and no work over weekend, I had to move out because I am asthmatic (I am not on the rentbook tho).
The flat needed extensive cleaning due to building dust, I am still breathing it in :O. It now needs decorating throughout, we cannot afford to do this. The heater was taken out of the bathroom and now there is no heating in there at all, we have a huge flat with only 3 storage heaters in the entire place. The washing machine which worked with the old wiring doesn't work now, it is a fairly new Aquarius and we were told by the electricians it has an earth fault or something and that they sometimes get this happening as new wiring is more sensitive?
So we are left with
Extensive cleaning job
Need for redecoration
No use of washing machine
no heating in bathroom
Switch for bathroom extractor 7ft high above door?
I have written on behalf of my fiancee who is a single dad suffering from depression (I have ME so we are both disabled) asking for money or some help with these things but as yet nothing back.
Does anyone have any advice? The flat is great we don't want to make the landlords hate us and want us out or anything so am trying to tread carefully.
