As a landlord, in Scotland, I pay fees for a factoring service to come in and do whatever those parasites do to justify the over priced service. I was hoping that someone on the site would know of anyway of getting these characters out of the way so i can save myself a small fortune every year. I must add i have 2 propertied that are factored one being a flat the other a residential house. I know that it was included in my missives but Surely there must be a time bar on the lenght of time we have to put up with paying someone to cut a tiny piece of front lawn that my 7 year old is more than competent to do.I never employed them, it was the builder Stewart Milne.
I could be on here all day complaining about them but that willn't help.I was hoping that someone would know of some legislation or action to rid these parasites from me and many other like minded residents.

Sorry cant help in answering your questions... however i can join your rant!!!!!
I may be in a slightly different situation to you as my factor is to do with a common close. but anyway... dont you just love the way they over charge for petty jobs (door entry system repairs etc..) then for you to find out that the 'sub-contractor' they use to do the work is actually owned by them? same with close cleaning, garden maintenance, general repairs etc..... and im sure they get a hefty cut of our common building insurance and then when something goes wrong that you need to claim they dont want to know! - something along the lines of... I think that would be covered by your contents insurance.... I wish I could swear on here bu I cant so i'll leave it to your imagination!!!

Thanks for replying to the thread gordieboy.Yes, I can imagine the anguish your going though with our friends the famous factors. I'm going to look more into it as to why we have them in the first place as they contribute nothin to our estate.I know that they've been included in our Missives but surely that makes the contract with the house builder and not the house purchaser.How can someone create a binding contract on my behalf without me even being party to ant discussions.Also your buying the house so what do you do, lose the house because and a point that gets slipped in on the missive.That can't be right.
With all the talk about unfair charges and contracts being one sided surely there must be something in there that we could use to rid ourselves of the dreaded Factors. I'll keep plodding away and keep the forum posted.
