Talking Get a BIG discount from all electrical stores

i was listening to Jeremy Vine on radio 2, he had the great great martin Lewis in, he gave a tip on bartering, if the store Wont barter, ask them what discount they will give if you take the extended warrentee, hehehe. i went into curried to buy a dvd recorder, only £120, asked for a discount and the answer was no,,,no,,,no,,,,noooo.
Then i applied martins idea, I ask what discount i could get if i took a 3 yr warrentee out, immidiately the assistant knocked off £45, woohoo, its christmas...walked out of the store happy as can be, waited 2 days then cancled the extended warrentee under the cooling off period like Martin suggested and in the end i got a cracking dvd recorder for £85
try it, you will be suprised

Be careful. I've read that when the paperwork is applied correctly by the sales assistant (which doesnt always happen) a cancellation of the warrantee results in the discount being claimed back by the retailer.

Yeah James,
I had that with a Big Screen Projector I bought from PC world, They Knocked £200 off when I took out the extended cover (3yr Cover which cost nearly £400).

On opening the product when I got home found that it already came with a 3yr warranty from Epson. I went back to the store to get their cover refunded and they were going to take the £200 back too..After A Bit of discussion with the store manager She agreed that it was her staff that didnt know what they had sold and agreed to full refund on their cover..so In the end I got £200 off..

Check the receipt too it often says there if the reason for discount is for extra cover.

Ian

yep, all correct. if the reason code is anything other than "service agreement offer" the store staff really are stuck for getting the discount back!

Yeah but the staff Im sure know that some products come with 3 year manufacturers warranty.. and Hope the Customer dosn't notice..
After all thats what they make their beer money on aint it..lol

Who needs the extra cover anyway ..With the Sale Of Goods act and of course most things can be covered for accidental damage on your house insurance.
