Default PC World get it right!!

Hi All.

I know we all like to get on the backs of certain stores when they don't offer a decent level of customer service but in this instance I have to say that PCW were spot on. I asked for a router that would manage a VPN connection between 2 routers as well as allow VPN pass-through. They recommended a Belkin router but when I got it back to the office it didn't do what I needed it to do. The details on the box were very vague hence the reason I asked the question. Called them up and was told that I would need to take it back to the store where I bought it by someone who was a little abrupt when I told him I wanted to take it back, the store is 110 miles from where I live but it is near one of the site I look after. Took it back the first chance I had and the person who refunded couldn't have been more polite,. He didn't moan or make it seem like I was committing a crime against humanity, he just just smiled said not a problem and refunded the router.

So in short, store guy made a mistake in telling me that his router did everything I needed it to, guy on the phone was abrupt and border line rude, but the guy in the store was happy to help and I left more than happy to go back there.

Or... out of 3 people at PCW, 2 didn't do their job properly, 1 did, and we are so used to rubbish treatment that we are grateful that it only took 3 attempts to get it right.

Question Re: PC World get it right!!

Hi,

I am really sorry if this is not the right place to ask this question.

I am planning to buy a basic laptop from a store in UK - Not sure which store to buy it from?
I have seen posts about not-so-good comments about Currys. So, I checked on PCW and its the same case with them too!

I want to (if possible) buy it from a good reliable shop which you recommend.
Since you have had so many experiences, I am sure you can help me with some names or pointers.

Thanks in advance.

Hi.

Here is a good place to look, Overclockers UK another is Computer Supplies from Novatech. Both are online stores and both have a good range of laptops at different prices. As most are now coming with Vista I would only buy a laptop with a minimum of 1GB of RAM (memory). Let me know if I can help any further.

They have always been online as far as I know. Novatech is fairly local to me so I use it quite a lot but I have also used Overclockers a few times.

Smile Re: PC World get it right!!

Thanks Jason1975.

I went ahead and got myself a Dell laptop.
And, I am happy about it.

I have Vista with a 2 GB RAM. It is a bit slow, but I guess I need to get used to it.

But, the machine is good.
