Default halifax ppi and harrasment

hi everyone
this is my 1st post with u so pse bear with me !!
long story short:
partner left 15 mths ago left with debts to manage on my own, had just moved house so took out unsecured loan with ppi to pay him money hed put in £10000 and took over payment of new kitchen £4000 which i put on my halifax credit card [no other choice] . last year had major surgery +off work 4mths ppi did not pay out on medical grounds despite being told when i got it it had been improved recently they also knew of my circumstances when i took policy+ loan out and did not say i could go elsewhere for cover . bottom line is i was on ssp for the last 2 mths of illness so not much coming in but continued repayments as decision not to pay had not been made at that point, my job is 1 mth in arrears and was on reduced hours for 1 mth due to recovery from op so everything started to pile up . offered reduced payments to all creditors all happy except halifax who accepted but then stared the phone calls for arrears despite being paid by dd for amount agreed had 66 calls from loan collections dept in space of 6 weeks [6 of them in 1 day !!] although they did give me as rest on xmas day and new years day !! have now blocked their calls and logged complaint with police . cccs is now dealing with my payments [great charity] can i do anything about ppi and harrasment i have logged all calls

Hi,
Sorry to hear of your dilema, Hopefully you will get the help and support you need from CAG.

The PPI, I presume they knew of your Medical condition and still sold you the policy?, Of course when you complain about this no doubt they will deny all knowledge of that and lay the blame with you, as they always do.

I have done a fair bit of research regarding PPI and have posted some notes here that may give you some ideas. Though I have found even more information and I will be updating the notes soon..

Re the harrasment by telephone , you can send them something along the following lines, which may get them off your back for a while.

Re: Harassment by telephone

I am writing to express my serious concerns regarding the telephone calls that I have received from your company.

I have Written and requested that these stop, but I am still receiving calls.

I am now formally requesting that all further correspondence be made in writing only.

I demand that these phone calls stop immediately. I am now familiar with the terms of Section 40 of the Administration of Justice Act 1970, and the Protection from Harassment Act 1970 and I believe your harassment places you in breach of these acts.

If you continue to call, you will also be in breach of the Wireless Telegraphy Act (1949) and, as such, I will report you to both Trading Standards and The Office of Fair Trading.

You will be deemed to have been served notice of my request and I will deem it served by (FULL DATE), I am advising you that any calls received after this date will be recorded with the intention of them being used as evidence.

Yours faithfully,

Good luck, and if you need any help , dont be afraid to ask, after all thats what we are all here for..

Ian
