Question Barclays Loan + PPI (mis-sold)

Loan Amount = £4500
Interest = 12%
Loan Period = 60 Months
Monthly payment = £120
PPI = £ 27

When I took the loan out, I was sold the PPI. Before taking the PPI, I confirmed with the rep if I would be able to cancel the insurance at any time to which she said 'yes'. However, what I was not told was the loan will have to be cancelled first and then re-applied subject to approval. I found out about this only when I went into the same branch to cancel PPI but my application was not approved. I was told that it was my personal impression as all was stated in the PPI document. Also, the sales rep had left and there was no way to prove a pol;icy being mis-sold.

Since then, I have tried to remove the PPI twice but each time I have been told that my application for a loan without PPI was not approved.

What would be the best route. Is there any hope when I signed their term and conditions??

Also, there are a few Bank charges that I need to claim. Shall I put in a single application or a combined applications?

Thanks

It WAS mis-sold if you weren't allowed to have the loan without it!
They are not allowed to do that.
Pm reidnet and he will direct you to the letter you have to write to dispute it and cancel it, i'm sure he will help.
Good luck!

I used to work for Barclays and while the staff will try to fob you off with the standard 'computer says no' response, the PPI can be removed although you will have to have a new loan (just the way their computer system works), if they decline to give you a new loan ask the personal banker to appeal the decline decision on the grounds that they are not lending you any further money so that the banks exposure will not change all they are doing is removing the optional PPI. You should have an answer from a real person 48 hours after an appeal is done. Any half decent staff member should have done this as a matter of course.

You haven't given any reasons why you think the PPI was missold or when you took the loan out originally, so I can't comment further on claimimg back the PPI you have already paid.

Hope this helps.
