Default who do I complain to?

Hi,

I recently had to complain to the company I have a loan and PPI with.(basically I don't have PPI but I appear to have been paying for it) It’s a bit of a long winded story but, they have taken two months to completely ignore my complaint, and in fact, given me more to complain about with the contents of their response.(which includes someone else’s policy!)

I have already contacted Trading Standards and they have my permission to deal with the complaint…and I have sent them all correspondence.

But, I’m not sure if they are the right people I should have contacted? Should I be complaining through the FSA? Or will Trading Standards be ok? or can I use both? So confused…

Hi,
They have sent you a copy of someone else's Policy, If that policy contains ant details regarding the other person then That is a breach of the Data Protection Act and I would bel letting them know that in no uncertain terms. If it contains the name and adress of some one else I would just for the hell of it , send the person concerned a copy of the policy and advise them that you had been sent it, I would also advise the other party to complain both to the Company concerned and to the Information Commissioners Office.

You can submit a complaint through the FOS rather than trading Standards, Before the FOS will take the complaint and deal with it you have to have a final response letter from the company basically telling you to get lost.

Good Luck

Ian

Hi Ian ,
thanksfor your reply. On closer inspection the policy document they sent me just has a 'policy number xxxxxxx'' 'date of issue of cover 01/02/01'

And, just had the 'get lost' letter yesterday! so I will get in touch with FOS, many thanks!
