Cool PPI won't pay out for my morgage - help please!

Hi I have been busy chasing bank charges and have now decied to try if anyone can help me out with my PPI.

I have PPI with Payment Sheild. here's my story - changed my morgage december 05 took out new PPI for morgage Jan 06 got told end of Feb company re-structure but it may not impact on me. Told me May that my role was redundent. Payment sheild have a 90 day claws - so although I was not told until May that I was not getting made redundent because I was told in Febuary that their was a company restructure they are not going to pay out.

To make matters worse we set up a policy on line and took one out over the phone with them too because we didn't think it had worked. As it turned out they had set up two policys up and were charging us twice and then wouldn't pay out.

As we say in Scotland I probally don't have a hope in hell but it is worth 1,500 per month and I am still not working and my husband has just lost his job. PPI was just out in my name at that time.

Any advice would be welcome.

Bit confused here - first you say you were told of redundancy in May, then you go on to say you weren't told until May that you were NOT getting made redundant. Could you clarify?

Also, how does the insurance company know that you were told about re-structuring back in the February?

Hi I was told in Feb company re-structure. However not told that my role was getting made redundent until may. Insurance company wrote to my company and asked when their was any comunication about any changes. They told them Feb. However confirmed that I was not made redundent or told until May. It was a large scale restructure and involved people in different sites and more that 100 people so they had to give us notice in Feb.

I feel annoyed because if I had worked for a small company and handn't got made redundent until may then they would have payed out due to the timescales involved in large scale redundencies. Does this make sence?

Hi - got your PM. No probs!
For starters, you've made a smart move coming on to this site.

I have issues with their 90 days' clause. You weren't made redundant in Feb. you were made redundant in May. It really depends on what the Terms & Conditions are of your policy. Now mine says

"you became UNEMPLOYED within 90 days of the START DATE (with a bit of luck, it was past 90 days when you were made redundant) or at the START DATE you knew you were to become unemployed" (well you didn't, because you weren't told of the restructuring until Feb and your policy started in Jan)

However, that's mine not yours - but do look at the policy wording carefully.

Are you pursuing with them the fact that you're paying for 2 identical policies?

I can't really be of much more help, as I'm no expert in this - hopefully someone will come along shortly who is.

If you don't get any more constructive help, my best advice is to get down to your local Citizen's Advice Bureau a.s.a.p. - they are usually good at this type of stuff. I hope you get this sorted out, and please keep posting on here to let us know how things are progressing.

If I have been of any help, please click the scales in the bottom left hand corner. Thanks!
