Default Can I make a PPI miss-selling claim

Hello to all. This is my introduction as asked for at registration. I have taken some time to browse some of the forums. First off, I am very bad with money - always have been.

I have 4 credit cards with outstanding balances on them at a total of approx 24k. I had PPI on all of the cards which were all taken out prior to 2007(a date I see on these forums), although one of them is a Barclaycard that took over from my Morgan Stanley card and I am not sure of the exact date this happened.

I have always paid PPI on these cards even though I do not think I requested it on any of them as insurance is something that I try to stay away from. Unable to remember how I applied for the cards.

On April 8th this year I was made redundantautolinker.com autolinking image and I contacted all four companies about them taking over payments. Each of them sent me forms to get filled out etc. but they all asked for an AB11 form to be supplied by the local DWP. When I contacted them, they advised me to send off to the head office who did not send me anything. I wrote to all of the companies again and they sent back AB11 forms but for the DWP to ratify them, I have to be "signed on" which I am not. I was not aware of this and as a result none of the claims have been paid. I do not think it is relevant but I was also made redundant 4 years ago and was out of work for a 5month period and did not make a claim because I did not know that I had PPI. I just kept up minimum payments.

This point in time took over 4 months to get to and I was advised to keep paying the PPI while it was sorted out. Ironically I paid funds while they decided I could not claim. At this point I cancelled all four PPI payments. My estimate of payments over the last 10 years is about 35k just for PPI!

I have continued to meet my credit card payment obligations since but am now at a point where I have no more funds and will have to default very soon. (I am still out of work although not signed on - and have been getting by on family donations)

My questions are:

1) Can I make a PPI miss-selling claim if I have tried to make a claim on it.
2) If I can, where do I send the first letter? is it to the credit card company or to the PPI company.
3) Do I have to maintain payments whilst I pursue the case?
4)

FYI - The Credit Cards are with:
Abbey National
Halifax
Barclaycard
Bank of Scotland

Any feedback appreciated.

PPI - Some Notes for Claimants.

THIS LINK IS IMPORTANT TO YOU ON RECLAIMING IT IS FROM 2001 FROM THE fosautolinker.com autolinking image
loan payment protection insurance and a quote from this link...

Quote:
When determining whether a policy is suitable, a seller – whether a lender or an agent for the insurer – must obviously take into consideration any information the prospective policyholder volunteers. However, we do not consider the seller’s duty is limited simply to recording what the borrower discloses. It is only by asking questions that the seller can properly determine suitability. These questions cannot cover every aspect of a borrower’s personal position and should not be expected to do so. To paraphrase the ABI Statement, only those matters deemed to be relevant by the insurer should be the subject of questions.

Please do not PM me for advice as it may be sometime before I can respond.

Keep at them. Do not give way and do not accept all they tell you, they will delay and stall for as long as they can to prevent repaying you your mis-sold PPI.
