Default Welcome finance PPI help please?

Hi
We have had several unsecured loans from the dreaded welcome finance over the past 7 years and each time i have been told that if we didn't take out PPI we would not be able to have the loan. I am registered disabled and although i work when i can, i was under the impression that i had been paying PPI to cover against unemployment - needless to say it would be of no use to me at all as pre-existing conditions are not covered. With this in mind i wrote to welcome and stressed my dissatisfaction, they wrote asking which one of us is disabled. When i found the policy it seems that the PPI only covers my husband so i feel a bit silly now, on the other hand this confirms that we were mis-sold the policy as i was under the impression it covered both of us and shows that the policy was not explained properly. I think i still may have a case as we were also told that without PPI = No Loan!
Does anyone have any advice - as i have to respond to their letter asking for clarification as to which one of us is disabled!
I hate Welcome finance lol!
Thanks in advance

Hi,

Just wanted to give you a bump see if any one can help you.

Iv have been fighting for miss sold PPI with several companies.
One which has been part sucessful.

To start with you need to do a S.A.R - (Subject Access Request) Subject acess Request and CCA can be found in the templates library.
Also have a read of PPI in the Media section found it very interesting.

When you get these, post up again, we can all help from there
If you have any problems PM hellhasnofury she is brill and knows the score
Im sure she will be able to guide you through it.

Good Luck
Lynn

Hi Maud,
I am trying to claim back ppi as well.

You should send Subject Access Request (S.A.R - (Subject Access Request)) to obtain Consumer Credit Agreements, statements, PPI terms and conditions etc. there are many good articles in the stickies which you should follow before you submit.

You state your initial post on your thread that "We have had several unsecured loans".
Are the loans in joint names?

My thoughts on this are if the loans are in joint names then perhaps the PPI applied should also be in joint names and not just your husband.

I am new to the PPI claims route but check out your credit agreements to see if the loans are in both your names. If they are you may be able to contest the banks claim that the PPI only covers your Hubby.

Good luck with your fight.

Hi
Thanks for the advice
All the loans were in joint names - when i say all i mean 3! sorry!

I did the S.A.R - (Subject Access Request) for bank charges - is it the same template for PPI?

Many thanks

Hi maud,

YES. My understanding is that a S.A.R - (Subject Access Request) is a SAR you are basically using a template letter from the stickies and in line with the Data Protection Act requesting your Data Protection Officer with whatever financial or other organisation to release to you the information (data) they hold on you as the data subject. If you send a written request and send the statutory fee £10.00 they have to comply within the terms of the Act or they are in breach of it.

I am not certain about the policy covering only your husband for Insurance if the loan is in joint names.

I reckon though when you state "I think i still may have a case as we were also told that without PPI = No Loan!" I believe from all the posts I have seen that you would have a case for mis-selling.

hope this helps
