PPI Claim WON

Hello,

Thought that I would post about a recent PPI claim I made with HSBC Bank. I thought it would give hope to those customers who are currently progressing through reclaiming their PPI.

Effectively over a period of one year, my loan was rewritten five times and each time PPI was added on to my Loans.

I had recently claimed back bank charges from HSBC and was scanning through my statements and saw these loans and subsequest PPI transactions.

I noticed that each time a Loan was rewritten, I was given a partial refund of the PPI for that Loan and charged for the PPI on the rewritten loans.

Over the period it added up to around £300. Not much but it was the principal of the matter.

I wrote a letter to HSBC saying that I was not happy about this, essentially because I hadn't asked for PPI and because I actually already had a plan with HSBC to cover me in the event of an accident illness etc! This external plan was much cheaper too.

Now the bad part, or so I thought was the fact that the PPI was just over six years ago. I thought HSBC would go all Statue of Limitations on me.

Undetterred I thought I would send a letter anyway, bearing in mind I am no longer a customer of HSBC.

I got a response after four weeks saying that it was still being dealt with, this was the end of Jan this year. The letter had the direct line to the person who was dealing with my complaint.

I decided to phone up last week to see how things were going. The representative looking at my claim started to quote the revised Consumer Credit Act in relation to PPI. I kindly reminded the representative that the agreements for my loans were well before this. Owned!

The represantative said to me that a request had been made to check the relevant paperwork etc and to expect to hear back shortly.

Last Thursday I receive a letter saying that my complaint had been upheld and a refund plus interest will be given to me.

I have signed the form and sent it back.

Even better, I didn't threaten court action once in my letter. In fact I was rather pleasent so not sure if this played a roll in my success.

I hope this gives confidence to anyone making a claim at the moment anyway.
