Default Firstplus And Ppi

Hi I wrote to Firstplus last year about my ppi and they refused to pay anything out to me but unfortunately my father in law was taken seriously ill and then died so with a lot to do i did not pursue it. Today I thought to myself why should they take all of the money off me and have sent a sars letter with my £10. I took my first loan out with them in 2003 and then took a further advance, so they paid the other one off and then added ppi again as a single premium and i did not realise till reading this forum that it all lasted 5 years they just kept saying that after 5 years i would get half the money back. I moved house in 2007 and the loan was paid off with very little refund. Before that i had tried to cancel it and they said i could but i would get no premium back and my payments would drop by approx £4.00 per month which is not a lot seeing as the ppi was £12000 added up front to the second loan. I know they will refuse but i feel i have been totally ripped off. So when i receive the paperwork back off them, does anyone know what my next approach would be as i am very unsure how to go about this. Hope someone can help me.

gysysaffy,

We all sympathise with you. Carol Vorderman may well reconsider her alliances if she saw the misery that First Plus can generate.

There are excellent resources on this site, step by step guides and case histories for reclaiming PPI. First Plus will feature heavily no doubt!

Good Luck.

Dont be suprised to find the info they send is well short of what they should send you, and guess whats missing from mine thats it the insurance documentation. Can I just say to you that if you have a read around you will start to find that there may be other areas that you could be claiming against firstplus along with you Mis sold insurance. I am writing to first plus demanding they comply with subject access request - but whats the best they say they have sent everything how can one prove they never! Not quite a suprise but they seemed to have left out the bits that show the mis selling in my case .

Anyhow I just wanted to say good luck, and no matter what dont let your head go down with these people.

Cheers

How did you make the deals in regards your loans with FP was it on the phone? If so you should have got transcripts of your conversations with FP. It would seem FP may be negligible in different ways in regards their loans and PPI. Have a read and re read at some of the excellent stuff that others have posted in particular the stiickies and then revisit the stuff they sent you and things should start to fall into place as to what you can have them on.

cheers

Hi got paperwork back but cant find any transcripts relating to the conversations when taking out both loans, should they have sent them too. When i first complained my father in law became ill so nothing else was done they sent me a letter back then saying that this is a single premium policy with amount being debited to the loan account and paid to the insurer at inception of the loan, the premium is incorporated into the balance of the loan and is repaid over the full term and the insurance runs for a period of 5 years and at the end you are entitled to reclaim the cashback premium. I took it out in 20/12/04 the advance was 63489.90 of which £12489.90 was ppi. On the letter it said if i cancelled the insurance in April 2007 the rebate offered by the insurance co. would be 554.23 which is they say approx 4.4% of the actial premium does anyone know if that seems fair. I settled the loan in may 2007 hope some one can help me with this i also had another loan which was taken out in 2002 but then took out the other above. Sorry if this is long and drawn out but not sure what to do next.

You should have received tape recordings of phone conversations with your S.A.R - (Subject Access Request) - not that all the conversations are likely to be on them.

I am dealing with a reclaim from Firstplus for some friends in similar situation. The response to their S.A.R - (Subject Access Request) did not include any details of the first loan - in fact I only found out about it from listening to the tapes! So I have now written and demanded information about the earlier loan on the basis that it should have been sent with the other information. They still have their loan and what I am working on reclaiming is the total amount of the PPI premium(s) - I assume there will be two, plus interest that they have been charged on them from day one, less any rebate paid on settlement of the first loan.

In your case you need to work out the premium charged on the first loan and how much interest you were charged on it up to the date it was settled, then at that point credit to the calculation any rebate you were given. Then do the same with the second one up to the date it was paid off. I hope that makes sense - pm me if you need any help with the calcs.

Fair? I think not

I would try phoning first - there should be a reference number on the covering letter with the rest of your S.A.R - (Subject Access Request) paperwork. I think Firstplus are a bit busy with SAR's at the moment - they even sent someone else's data with my friend's stuff - I haven't decided what to do about that yet:o.

ITs time to put it in writing requesting they comply with you S.A.R - (Subject Access Request) and if they do not do so you will be putting a complaint into the information commisioner. They must be having a laugh with their wanting another fiver!!

Hello GS,

I am glad that someone has put you right with their responsibility with a S.A.R - (Subject Access Request), they must by law provide you will all information that they hold on their databases regarding you and the account, and this includes all telephone transcripts and telephone calls.

Sent them a non-compliance to the S.A.R - (Subject Access Request) you sent. You will find one in the bank template letters thread on the main page. Give them a deadline in which to comply with the rest of the information 7days or 14days and then report them to the Information commissioners office for non-compliance. They will get into big dodo with the Information Commissioners Office
