I think there is some information in the site about being mis-sold PPI if it runs into your pensionable age as they should not have sold it to you if it goes beyond that.

I will see what I can find but I am sure someone with more knowledge will be along very soon.

Would it be worth applying for 3 jobs a month in order to benefit from PPI? You never know, you might actually get another job

(Personally, I see so many people who have paid PPI and then can't benefit when they need it that I would love to see someone actually getting ther money's worth out of it.)

I don't think it matters whether you receive a pension or not, if you've paid the correct stamps/National Insurance you should be entitled to JSA (Job Seekers Allowance) for 6 months. Any redundancy or wages in lieu might affect this though, best to check with the Benefits Office (Jobcentre Plus they're called now) And even if you can't get JSA you can still sign on every week, just to show that you are available for work, and also to get credits for your "stamps".

Are these conditions made clear in your contract? I'm wondering if this is a case of mis-sold PPI, in which case you could claim it back, and put that towards your debts.

I'm moving your thread to the PPI forum.

These financial companies beggar belief, they sell you ppi, to protect their payments (not yours) and when you need them, they will make it as difficult as possible.

If you have paid for this every month to find it is of no use to you, then reclaim back every penny you have paid them, plus interest.

Did you choose to have it, or was it just applied.

I think the Citizens Advice Bureau are the best people to help. However, do you know how much the PPI has cost you, and how much is owed on the loan.

If you cannot make a claim on the PPI, the as DM has said, the PPI was almost certainly missold, and you should be able to claim a refund plus interest.

I think Alan is correct, firstly speak to Citizens Advice Bureau.

I think you will find that for the PPI to pay up under redundancy you have to continue to be redundant as it will only pay out each month to make your normal payments. It will not pay off the full debt (that would only have been under the life part of it - I am guessing here).

Again as Alan said you need to check the outstanding balance of each debt and the amount of PPI you have been paying that was possibly mis-sold. Add the contractual interest to that and see how close it comes to paying off the debt.

another thing to look at is have you have previous loand/credit cards that you may have had mis-sold PPI on that you can claim for and also use that to clear the debt.

Post some of the figures and interest rates, balances and ppi payments etc on this tread and let the knowledgable folks get their teeth into them.

Hello, SD,

Do you have the terms and conditions of the policy that they should have sent you.?????? What does it state about your age on the policy????

What about any redundacy pay, can that help to reduce the balance
