Welcome finance PPI HELP NEEDED!!!

Hi, i took out aloan with this company sept 06. i am self employed, which they knew when i took out the loan as i had to send in proof of my earnings. SE60'S

The man told me i needed ppi to protect me if anything happened to me and i was unable to work, so i took it out. i have since paid off the loan early and has been settled in full.

i have now sent them a letter requesting my ppi money back as it would not have covered me!!
A man then rung from Welcome and told me that the ppi was not missold and i would have been covered. i think he was trying to fob me off!!

i have now sent them another letter disagreeing with this.

You did the right thing! They are fobbing you off. It was mis sold if it would not have covered you and despite what they say, you would be able to claim.

i have sent a 2nd letter, but have recieved no reply. they have tried to ring me again, left an answerphone msg asking me to call them. i don't really want to talk to them though. i want all communication in writing but they dont seem to listen!!

so when can i go to the financial obudsman? what are my next steps?? really apreciate any help as feel like i am going in circles!

I would certainly report them to the Financial Services Authority and the Office of Fair Trading for their conduct so far. The majority of complaints I see so far on this site is this company. These enforcement authorities, will not investigate individual complaints, but will keep a file of complaints on these companies and if enough complaints are made they will investigate and fine them.
