Default Are you in the dark? Have you received an unfair parking penalty?

Stationary vehicle offences can be infuriating.

The penalties for overstaying parking times or for parking in the wrong place at the wrong time seem to me to be quite disproportionate.

An overstay of as little as 5 minutes can lead to a ticket, a clamping and a removal all within the space of a few minutes if the Council's parking enforcment people are well- organised.

Even an overstay of a couple of minutes can lead to a parking fine of £40.

I think that these penalties are excessive. It may well be disproportionate within the meaning of the Human Rights Act.

It certainly seems out of proportion to me that a family can be faced with the loss of their entire budget for a whole week simply because of a 10 minute mistake.

maybe when we can spend less time dealing with unlawful bank charges we will be able to look at vehicle penalties more closely.

For the moment, you may find some help from the new LawPack Motoring Ticket kit.

Buy it from LawPack - or buy it from us:-
