Default Yellow Line Widths

Could someone please expalin to me or translate the TRSDG diagram of yellow line widths? Specifically the single yellow line widths and position.
There are three measurements shown, 2 in brackets. To what do each of these refer?
I have the PCN unenforcable on 3 other counts - vague place desciption (somewhere on a 1 mile road, most of which has no yellow lines, several breaks varying from 2' to 30' and no T bars at either end. I just want to rub this in more if I can.
Photos I have show yellow line varying as:
18- 23cm from kerb, 9.5 - 14 cm in width?
file:///K:/Documents%20and%20Setting s/John/My%20Documents/Council/Parking%20fine/23765-no-t-bar-end_files/023113ba.gif

Help and comments much appreciated.

Thanks pat. Presumably they have to be one or another, not somewhere in the middle of the widths prescribed?

They must be of one dimension throughout. And, yes, it must be one of the prescribed dimensions (with about 10% I seem to recall)

It is usual for the narrowest to be used in conservation areas to lessen the impact of the lines.
