Default Ticket For Leaving Site??? WTF

Great Site, First POST, please help

I popped into Farnborough, intent on going to B&Q, free car park, MFI (free car park, but here is where my problem lies) & Wickes (free car park).

I parked in the free car park, patrolled by UKPC, 10 minutes before MFI opens, I was also going to check out the other stores there, as you do.

I ran across to B&Q, grabbed a piece of DIY stuff i needed, ran back to my car, dropped it off, and hey presto a car park ticket.

Apparently because i left the site i am in violation! Even though the shop i wanted to visit wasn't open just then, i was furious. I found the Car Park attendant, was polite to start with and as anyone who knows me will verify, i am not the kind of guy to lose their temper but i did and called him all the names that sprang to mind!

He told me the fine was going to be £45, I explained what i had done and that I was only gone 15 minutes and i was going to go to the shops where I had parked, anyway the usual polite smug answers etc, i left the car park furious and determined to do something about this.

The car park over the road is 50p, the B&Q car park where I could have gone, is free, this car park is free up to 3 hours and was virtually empty, yet this half bred idiot issued me with a ticket.

I am going to send the letter posted by Bernie the Bolt, but can anyone tell me if i am wasting my time, I feel like going to court and offering to pay 50p, which is the cost of all car parks in the area.

Should i also write to the retailers that are next to the car park, because of this I was so mad i refused to spend my hard earned money with them!

I wish I could be as cold hearted and evil as these souless w***ers!

I am so sure what they are doing is illegal!

Please post a reply as I am so BLOODY mad about this, any advice help etc would be FASNTASTIC!

Regards

i think that is the same cowboy outfit that has my local staples, they also say that they will ticket you if you have no car tax, can you take some pictures of the signage and scan the ticket and post it on here, having first removed your details, it is going to be unenforcable, you can just ignore it unless they try and take you to court, but we do like a laugh about the illegality of the signs and tickets

Don't stress.

You just have an invoice. If you receive an invoice for a service you had never received, would you pay it?

• do not pay
• do not contact them
• ignore their letters
• they will give up and go away after 4 or 5

There is such a thing as implied access - the car park is there for you to shop at B&Q. Since you did, they have even less of a legal leg to stand on.

Relax and get on with your life.
