Richard Thomas of Southwark council said: "Parking illegally causes congestion and is dangerous. We don't want to raise income, we want people to park legally."

He has obviously attended the Gordon Brown school of etiquette with statements like that. The sole purpose of this government and all it's associated departments has been to raise capital nothing else, just screw the public for every penny it can get.

One of these days you will start a thread not based on something you got from trawling other web sites! This story is 3 years old and most of the stuff mentioned is stupid. Giving someone a ticket when they are asleep....if sleeping is not parked I don't know what is, lol! Maybe the guy was loading and passed out in the cab from exhaustion As for hanging around waiting for tickets to expire, surely the vast majority of times the driver will return in time making the wait pointless and the whole time they are waiting they will not find anyone else 'offending' so how is this going to increase tickets issued?? If you google a bit more you will find police officers guilty of child porn and rape does this mean we should scrap the judicial system? Nurses and doctors who have killed patients, maybe we should scrap the health service to?? No system is perfect but coming up with a few stupid examples is not an excuse to change it.
