Default supermarket carparks

hi all

blimey you all on the ball ref private parking must have them quaking
in their boots hehehe.

anyway I have just another quick question

me and a freind stumbled across this little site Private Parking: Frequently Asked Questions. - Penalty Charges Forum

note the bit in red at the bottom

now I do appologise in advance if this issue has already been addressed

but seeing as asda are rolling out a parking scheme nation wide the question begs does the car park have to be registered as a seperate buisiness in its own right and can this be a defence ie where is your buisiness registration etc. as you are operating illegally without one!!

any thoughts.

many thanx

What they will probably do to get around this is "pay" a third party company to administer the scheme on their behalf. Enter the PPCs. Supermarket can claim cost of business rather than as a seperate business. Any profits are taken by the PPC who have to all the requisite stuff to operate.

I would think that any contract will allow the PPC to keep any money taken in lieu of fees/retainers.

I think there is a small kick back to the supermarket - at least there are for other business who do this. Asda are saying that any proceeds will go to charity, indicating to me there is some money coming their way.

Also in the Asda press release they state that the only carparks they will operate the scheme on are car parks that htey own.

There will be no need for them to operate it as another business.
