Please help! Parking fine after paying at a possible faulty machine?

Hi

Today I was lovingly given a parking fine from my council from an "expired" ticket. When I paid for the ticket in the parking lot I paid for 2 hours (40p). I could hear the money drop into the machine and therefore assumed it had taken it. I did not look at the ticket and then left it on display in my car.

An hour and a half later I returned to find a fine! I looked at the ticket and it said I had only paid for 1 hour!!!

Is there anyway out of this? I had a friend with me and the fine isnt signed properly??

I really cant afford this ticket. I wont be able to afford my car insurance if I have to pay this and will therefore be in trouble.

I'm greatful for any help or advice

I doubt you will be able to get away with it by claiming the machine was faulty (although there is no reason not to try- I did this many years ago and had my ticket cancelled)

If you can scan and post both sides of the PCN and post it here, obscuring personal details, one of the forum experts might be able to find a flaw with it.

What about the fact I had someone with me who saw me pay? Or that the fine is not properly signed by the warden??

As far as I know, there is no statutory requirement for the PCN to signed by the PA
