Default help euro car parks notice.

i received a letter from euro car parks today saying that i owe then £85 due to an un paid parking notice, even though i have never received a 'parking notice' and they said the ticket was from october. they have demanded i pay right away or the amount will go up by £25 a week untill i do.

i do not want to pay a ticket i never recieved. no one else drives my car so there is no chance it was someone else that got it.

my other half thinks it may be a con to get my bank details, as the letter looks a bit fake too. so i just wondered if anyone else had a copy of a letter so i could check the letter head and stuff. if its a con i want to report it.

thanks soph.

Hi, Welcome to the forums.

Euro car parks are a known bunch of otherwise known as a Private Parking Company.

What they have sent you is an invoice claiming that you owe them money. Basically this outfit has much legal clout as you or I. It's not a con in the sense they are not trying to get your bank details but rather more of a scam to try and get you to pay an invoice for a contract of with either dubious or no validity. It is likely that you will not owe them a penny and should not pay.

Have a read of this guide which you'll find in the stickies at the top of this forum. Also look at the template letters in that section. Also have a look at some of the other threads on this site and you'll see there are plenty of these sorts of companies doing this sort of thing so you are not alone.

Fortunately, as you'll see, there are some remedies which can generally put a stop to these things.

If you need more specific advice please post up questions. Members of the forum will be happy to help.

Either scan your euro car parks letter here or do a search on "Euro" on this forum. You can then check company details, phone nrs etc to make sure that this is not actually a complete con.

Don't worry about having to pay the ticket even if it is genuinely from Euro Car Parks. It is a private ticket hence virtually unenforceable. [See the "sticky" Private Parking Companies - all you need to know, at the top of this forum.

i would have posted a scan of the letter but i dontd have a scanner.

i did read a few of your posts about euro car parks and still though the letter i recived seemed strange.
in the letter it speeks as if this is not the first 'reminder' letter they have sent me. and the letter its self just looked a little false, does anyone know what the letter head should look like?
on the letter i recived it just had a P in a circle with some dots and euro car parks and it was under lined. the phone number it gives when i call it it just beeps, i a fax or something and the address is just a po box number.

in the letter they where really agresive demanding that i pay what i owe them or they will be forced to take the matter further.
and they said that 'the longer i leave it with out paying my debt, the worse the debt will become'
it really freaked me out a bit as i never even recieved a ticket, or any previous letters from them.

thanks for your help

Do you have a mobile phone with a camera? That might take a good enough copy of the letter - do delete personal info before posting, though.

Did the logo look like this:

The letters are threatening and they are designed to scare people into paying. Take some time to read the guide to see where you stand. Come back with any questions.

Regards,

Mike

But if you never pay an unenforceable debt, it doesn't matter how much it becomes, it's still unenforceable!

Remember, if I sent you a letter asking for money, and was aggressive, would you pay it?
