Also when the alleged incident took place the bowling alley was closed and there was no other cars parked and so no customer was at a disadvantage. I must have left the car for no more than 2 mins and no notice was placed on my car at the time of the incident. There are notices at the site but I did not notice them and there is also alot of small print on them. The private company wants me to pay £70 within 14 days otherwise it will go up to £95 and they threaten court action. What should I do? |
Welcome to the forums
For a start don't pay. These invoices are pretty much non-enforcable. Be warned however they will threaten you with court action, Debt Collection Agencies and so on. The chances of going to Court are pretty minimal.
Have a read of this excellent guide which you'll find at the top of this forum.
Private Parking Companies/Charges. It's written by one of the forum members and is really good at clarifying your legal position. It's located in the stickies section at the top of this forum. Also have a read of the template letters for how to write back and dispute the debt. They're located at in the stickies section as well.
