speeding fine in a right mess

ok i'll keep this short

got a speeding ticket while being overtaken by another car and i'm sure i was done for the speed they were going

was gonna defend but couldn't be bothered so decided to pay ticket

rang up man city mag court to make payment. got to speak to someone but my ticket hadn't been processed by police so couldn't pay it yet. this was 10 days after it was issued

rang up Man City mag court another 18 times over 18 days but never ever got to speak to anyone

finally got through only to be told that couldn't pay as it was 29th day and was too late

kicked up a right fuss and they agreed to accept it and took payment. checked bank and money had come out of account

now i've got a registration of fixed penalty ticket and they're saying i owe 90 instead of the 60 i've already paid and that they can't find that i've paid 60

i'll make an official complaint to the court and police but can i claim costs as they've made it so difficult to pay that it's cost me loads to make so many calls and i've spent loads of time dealing with it

Do you have a reference number or at least a record in your bank account/credit card of the money going out? If you have a record of money being moved then I don't see how they can complain if their computer system is on the blink.

I'm not the an authority on this but I'm sure if you have pay a fine (and in this case prove it) and they have banked it (even if they accept lower than the actual amount) then they cannot legally pursue any further.
