Default red route/clearway

I have just received a PCN for "stopped on a red route or clearway"
Please can somebody tell me what the 'rules' are.

I dropped somebody off at the station, and was there for a matter of seconds (I was in the car with engine running) - there were no markings on the road.

Many thanks!

Was it a red route or a clearway?
Double red line or single?
What time of day?
What did the sign say?
Can you scan and post both sides of the PCN?

Hi
Thanks for speedy response.
From the photograph that they have sent me of my car, there do not appear to be any lines at all.
I will drive past tonight and take some pics, as I wasn't aware of any signs at the time.
I will post them later tonight.
Many thanks

Sounds like a clearway. What you need to look for is the red circle with a red X in it and a blue background.

Hi
It was a red route sign, with "no stopping at any time".
Also there was a red sign which said "Taxi Set Down Only" in red letters - Unfortunately I didn't see either of the signs on approach, as I was in heavy traffic, changing lanes (typical!)

Do these signs mean that I cannot drop off passengers from my car?

Many thanks for all your help

There's no alighting on a red route.
Your best hope is a defect on the PCN.

What kind of defect would I look for?!
By the way, I stopped in front of a side road (not sure how I link the picture to you) So I wasn't technically on a red line - would that matter?

If you think that there is no chance of an appeal, I will pay now..... so frustrating when you innocently do something that's 'wrong'!!

Thanks
