My understanding (which is limited tbh) is that parking tickets can only be served on the driver of the vehicle, not the Registered Owner, however, don't take this as gospel.

Someone else will confirm for definate.

was it a private carpark or is it local authority controlled.

if its private car park and the ticket is issued by a private parking company then you can basically tell them where to go as the basis for the ticket is contract law & the subsequent breach of contract. in this case the contract is with the driver atthe time and not the registered keeper so you can just tell them to sod off as you have no idea who hte driver was at the time and suggest they take it up with the driver and leave you alone

if its a local authority ticket then its a different case entirely

regards
paul

If it is a private car park the sticky gives loads of info. Also check other threads, there is plenty of advice in them.
