Cool Parking charge at B&Q

Hi

I wonder if anyone has been given a 'parking charge' ticket by Central Ticketing Ltd who issue the tickets at B&Q car parks.

I frequently use B&Q store in Burton on Trent. Last month i went to the store, in my daughter's car who is 17, I spent 30 minutes browsing but did not find what I needed. Upon my returne to the car I found a ticket by central ticketing for £85 reduced to £60 if paid within 14 days.

The ticket only displays one time, which I assume is the time of issue and a hand writen note saying 'were left on site, given15 Mins'. Apart from the front of the ticket that displays 'Parking Charge' in large letters there is no explanation of what the charge is for and only the location is mentioned.

My daughter has now received a letter threatening her with court action if she does not pay £85 within 14 days. You can imagine how frightened a 17 year old girl would be who has never experienced such letters.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Long and short of it is: Tell them to sod off. It's not a lawful charge, they can't pursue it, they can't enforce it, although they'll probably send more and more threatening looking letters. Do a search on the company in here, you'll see how others have handled it.

Complain to B&Q as well, as although they doubtless approve of the ticketing of overstayers they won't want spurious tickets given to customers.

I have written to B&Q and complained. I shall never shop at B&Q again. An annual loss of £5000 for them and I hope everyone who has had a ticket at their store does the same. Large corporations must realise that it is the public who has made them what they are and the public can send them back to where they started.

I have, today, received a letter from the manager of B&Q store in Burton on Trent apologizing for the ticket issued by the Central Ticketing Ltd. He assured me that the ticket is now cancelled by him and I will not hear from Central Ticketing Ltd again.

Anyone who has encountered the same problem should write to the manager of the store before attempting to contact the unscrupulous ticketing company who would try their best to convince you of their legitimacy, in order to con you out of the extortionate amount that they are not legally entitled to. Good Luck.
