Default Faulty PC Component / Overclockers

Hi,

I found this site while trying to establish what my consumer rights are and hope someone can help.
Apologies in advance for the length of the post!

I purchased an expensive 'silent' graphics card from overclockers in October last year.
The fan started to make a lot of noise so I emailed then to obtain an RMA.
Initially, they tried to fob me off and told me that the manufacturer can't replace the card unless the fan actually failed completely.
I complained pointing out that my contract was with them and that the card was advertised as being 'silent'.
They then granted me an RMA number and apologised for the previous reply.
I duly sent them the card which they received on the 15th Feb. Obviously the pc at this point is not working but I was away on holiday for 2 weeks so wasn't too bothered.
Came back 3 weeks later and no card has arrived and there has been no further communication. Emailed them to query/complain and was told that it can take 'around 28 days' to sort out.
Obivously unhappy at this point, I email again to point out that this is appalling and that I want a date by which I will be getting a replacement card.
They then reply today and say that 'they are waiting for a replacement from their supplier'.
At this point I'm annoyed, since they have had my card for nearly 28 days and I am without a working pc.
I've read around but I am confused about what my next steps should be. The fault developed in the first 6 months and they have now had 26 days and counting to sort this out....
I would have been happy with a replacement but now I'm annoyed at their dismissive attitude!

Thanks in advance!

hi rooty21
i worked for comet for many years and we had a policy which stated any parts ordered must be replaced within 28 days so if i were you i would have a look at your manufacturer warranty. also if your not happy id try to find out about speaking to someone at the top, in most companies if you go straight to the top they will do anything to please you. ive never heard of this company but have a search round to see if you can find a top mans name. goodluck
