Angry Raising price 2 days AFTER issuing receipt!! isn't this wrong??

I recently helped my mother in law purchase a gas fire from gas-fire.gb.com, as she has no access to the internet. I thought it would help her get a better price. Once she'd decided on which model I had a good look around to find the cheapest price, and the afore named company offered the fire she wanted at £540, so she used her credit card and bought it. I printed out her receipt plus a copy of the confirmation email. Both stated the price was indeed £540. Ma in law rang the company a couple of days later to arrange delivery and was told on the phone that the website price was wrong and that the fire was £640, and that she could either purchase it for the higher price or cancel her order. She gave in and paid the extra £100. they are delivering the fire tommorrow.

Now, as far as I am concerned the company should honour the original price and that it's false advertising. Is there some law I can quote to them, to get her £100 back? I would really like to help her with this, cos it was me who told her to buy from them in the first place

Any help would be much appreciated.

Oh and the website is still advertising the fire at the same price: £540

Contact your Trading Standards at once. That's a matter for them.

Make sure you take a screenshot of the website ASAP still showing the unchanged price, so they can't wriggle out of that one.

If it's their mistake they can't charge more for it. It's either £540 or a cancelled order.

Phone the credit card company as well, I think they should be able to refund the extra £100 quickly.

I spoke to Trading Standards who initially didn't think there was much I could do, apart from haggle. I have spoken with TS today however, who say that they will be taking this matter further as, after checking the website, some of the company's T&C's are illegal.
I have had a complete mightmare with them in the past few days, and would strongly advise others to stay well clear!!!
Not only did they take my ma in laws money straight away, but they also didn't deliver the fire when promised, they didn't ring back when they said they would, and today they told me the fire has been 'lost'!!! The young girl on the phone was rude and didn't seem to care less about any of it. They didn't answer their phone at all yesterday. They advertise a price promise on the website, and I was told today that they only match a price if they can make enough profit!! (TS were very interested in hearing that!) I have cancelled the order and was told the refund would be done today but might take a couple of days to go through. Ma in law has spoken to her CC, who say they will cover her if she doesn't get a refund, so either way she will get her money back.

I hope gasfire.com and gas-fire.gb.com and any other name they trade under will get their cumuppance, they shouldn't be allowed to trade at all. One of the most diabolical companies I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with.
