Angry Apple - refusal to repair

In February 2005 I spent £1600 on a brand new spanky all singing all dancing super duper Apple laptop. Within 2 months I had the dreaded beeps and a dead laptop and promptly sent it back. Apple repaired no questions asked as was within warranty. October 2006 and the same fault occurred and again Apple repaired without any issues as the problem is a recognised fault with the 15" Powerbook G4s displaying my serial number. However I now have the exact same problem with my laptop, having been diagnosed by a reputable Apple approved company. Yet Apple are now refusing to fix it as it's over 2 years old. I'm now required to put up just under £700 to have it repaired. I feel extremely cheated as the laptop has been faulty from day 1 and the problem is recognised by Apple. I now have the dilemma of either spending £700 on a repair (which has gone wrong twice before and frankly how can we be sure that 8 months down the line it wont occur again) or reluctantly put the money towards a new one. The most frustrating thing is that I need an Apple. Any help or advice will be gratefully received.
Can anyone tell me my rights please. Thank you

The fact that it has happened befoer should work in your favour. did the report show that it is a manufacturing fault (or rather not down to wear and tear)? If so then it is down to Apple to fix it irrespectibe of the two years.

You need to write to them quoting SoGA (see any previous forums) requiring them to repair. If they refuse, send another warning that you will commence court proceedings without further notice.

Thanks for your advice. I'll get the pen and paper out and get onto them.

The fault is recognised by Apple and they have a repair program in place for those laptops suffering with it, but they're not interested in mine as its over 2 years old! If they've set up a repair program that suggests to me that it's a manufacturing fault as opposed to wear and tear. What do you think?

I would agree with that. I canot see how they can justify refusing a repair based on the age. They seem to be condemning themselves with a statement like that.
